StudyCanvas is a Windows app that brings together notes, boards, mind maps, canvases, annotated screenshots, spaced-repetition flashcards and practice exams, organized in notebooks and folders.

Your data stays with you

Your notes are stored as files on your computer. If you choose, the app keeps backups in your own Google Drive, in a folder it creates. StudyCanvas can only see the files it created itself, never the rest of your Drive.

Why we ask you to sign in with Google

Name, email and profile picture: to identify your account and keep your profile separate in the app.
Files created by the app in Google Drive (drive.file): to save and restore your backups.

AI features

Summaries, questions, mind maps and screenshot explanations can be generated by AI (Claude, by Anthropic). You decide when to use them; only the content you send to the AI leaves your computer.
